In
Villasbuenas de Gata, Cáceres, the
Dehesa Boyal de la Piedra Open Day took place on November 14th. Under the theme “To Value the Montado/Dehesa”, and having the LIFE Montado-Adapt panel as background, students from CRA Almenara and Escuelita del Bosque learned a little more about the value of Montado/Dehesa and also learned about some of the products originated in this unique forest ecosystem.
For adults, the afternoon began with an ethnobotanical walk through the streets of
Villasbuenas de Gata, which included the identification of indigenous plants, as well as a conversation about their uses and history by Álvaro Tejerina Gallardo. After the tour, there was a presentation on agroforestry alternatives in the
Sierra de Gata, explaining how to settle the population and landscape in that territory through the implementation of agro-forestry mosaics.
